Team VVV Rally ends 2005 with 7th podium of the season!

It was always going to be a challenge for the team on this event as the car had been fully restored from the roll in Canberra earlier this year, for the event. Untested until the first stage of competition where the skill and capability of the team was shown with the car proving completely sound. Despite this an easy approach was applied over the first 3 stages.

The next few gave us the pace we were looking for until the 3rd last for the day where mid stage we lost 1st and 2nd gear completely!

It was a stroke of fortune for us, however not for Scott Pedder and team, with Back Creek, the 2nd last stage being cancelled due to their accident on stage, no injuries fortunately.

This left us to run the Super Special Stage to close the day with only 4th, 5th and 6th gear! You can imagine the amusement as we crawled off the start in 3rd gear and completed the stage which doesnt anctually see 3rd gear for 85% of the stage normally, 15 seconds down on our previously set time.

A monumentous effort by the crew, replacing the gearbox (thanks to Ian Plenderleith lending us his) in the service that followed prior to overnight parc ferme ment we were back in the race for heat 2 on Sunday.

Day 2 started out well enough but by stage 3 the sheer number of cars off the road in the deluge of rain that fell, led to the event being cancelled and only the first 2 stages counting.

Team VVV Rally took 3rd place behind Will Orders and Eli Evans, the 2 contenders for the series, for the weekend. Will finishing as close runner up for the season behind Eli, the newly crowned RS Challenge champion....congratulations Eli and Team!
